Men's Rowing The men's rowing team achieved its first national ranking in the program's history, with the Zags currently ranked 19th in the latest US Rowing Collegiate Top 20. The ranking comes after a strong showing by the Bulldogs in the month of April, with wins against the University of Virginia and the University of Michigan on April 11-12, and a sweep of Washington State on April 19. The Zags' next match comes on May 3, when they participate in the WCC/WIRA Championships in Sacramento, Calif.
Men's tennis The men's tennis team finished at the WCC Championship on Sunday, its highest finish since 2003. The Zags posted losses to San Diego and Portland seventh in their first two matchups before defeating Santa Clara to secure seventh place. The Bulldogs finished the 2008 season with a 6-18 overall record.
Women's tennis Junior Aglaya Kokurina was named to the All-WCC second-team, the first time a Gonzaga women's tennis player has earned such honors. Kokurina finished the season with a 24-12 overall record, including 13-8 in conference play. Senior Emily Anderson was also honored by the WCC, being named an All-WCC honorable mention for the third time in her career. Anderson had a 21-15 overall record this season, including wins in seven of her last 10 matches. The Bulldogs finished 7th at the WCC Championship defeating Portland 4-3. It was their first outright 7th-place finish since 2002.
Baseball Junior Ryan Wiegand was named WCC Co-Player of the Week on April 21, sharing the honors with James Meador of San Diego. Wiegand hit .421 with three home runs and seven RBIs, helping the Bulldogs to a 5-0 record with wins over Washington and Portland. On the season, Wiegand is batting .357, and leads the Bulldogs in hits, home runs and RBIs.
Track Freshman distance runner Clare Obradovich broke the Gonzaga record for the women's 200 meters, finishing in 26.45 on April 19 at the Duane Hartman Invitational at Spokane Falls Community College.
