Hot start in Honolulu

Gonzaga's men's tennis beat NCAA Division II Hawaii's Pacific University on Monday. The victory over the Sea Warriors gave the Bulldogs a 3-1 record during a season-opening trip to Honolulu. Levin Guillermo and Muzeen Ismath opened the match with a 8-4 win in No. 3 doubles. Despite Alvaro Nazal and Olivier Jamin losing 8-3, Zhia Hwa Chong and Scott Sullivan, who are on a four-match winning streak, won the tiebreaker 8-6 and won the point for the Bulldogs. Chong also won his fourth singles match in a row, Nazal followed Chong with a singles win, bringing the score to 3-1. Jamin followed Nazal getting the match winning point.

The Bulldogs, who had been in Honolulu since Thursday, started the season strong despite Saturday's 6-1 loss to UC Santa Barbara. In Saturday's loss Chong finished with a pair of victories.

On Friday the Bulldogs beat the University of Hawaii 5-2 on the Rainbow Warriors' home court.
