While the athletic facilities at Gonzaga are definitely above par, there is still room for improvement in many areas. Specifically, the installation of tennis courts and the completion of the soccer pitch.

Trying to keep facilities up to date during an economic recession is a big challenge; despite that fact, the athletic department is still dedicated to the improvement and completion of facilities.

"We are actively fundraising for the golf/tennis and soccer campaigns," said Joel Morgan, Assistant Athletics Director.

Gonzaga enjoys a plethora of beautiful facilities, such as the McCarthey Athletic Center, Patterson Baseball Complex and Washington Trust Field, the Rudolf Fitness Center and even Mulligan field, which is quite the spectacle for a field used solely for intramurals and club sports.

The Gonzaga Soccer field, despite being one of the nicest on the west coast, still has yet to be completed. Phases two, three and four, which will round out work on the soccer field, will include main grandstands, locker rooms, concessions, restrooms and the installation of the stadium lights.

There are also rumors of a new floor in the Kennel. Morgan declined to comment on the speculation, stating that no new floor has been added yet. Morgan said there are no immediate facility concerns, only long-term improvements that the department hopes to soon bring to fruition.

For now, at least, students can take solace in the fact that such a small school has some of the nicest athletic facilities on the west coast.
