The lady Zags took a while to warm up, but once they did the Hofstra Pride didn't stand a chance Friday in the Kennel as GU took the win, 101-88. Kayla Standish scored the first five points for Gonzaga. Kelly Bowen felt the fire after this short run and scored two on a fast break. Standish continued to pace the women with two quick shots from the paint, bringing the score to 14-4 with 14:38 left to go. Sunny Greinacher added two points and an assist immediately after subbing in for Katelan Redmon.

After two turnovers, Kelly Bowen redeemed herself at the line with a made free throw. Two steals by Candace Bond didn't faze Jazmine Redmon who swiftly nailed a three after, bringing the Zags up 26-9.

Taelor Karr followed with two, following Keani Albanez's steal and jumper from the elbow. Long Island continued to struggle making shots, slowly putting points on the board.

Greinacher amped her stats with four free throws after being fouled twice consecutively by Hofstra's Marie Malone.

Karr struggled near the middle of the first half, missing a 3-pointer, causing a turnover, and then fouling. This began the bout of fouls, missed shots, and failed free throws that gained the Zags only seven points in the last five minutes of the first half.

Haiden Palmer and Katelan Redmon started off the second half with a couple of jumpers and a steal. Palmer stole two balls and Bowen joined in the excitement with two shots from the paint, bringing the score to 62-44.

With 13:30 to go, Bowen sank a free throw, answered by Hofstra Pride's Nicole Capurso's shot only a few feet from the basket. And then the team from New York began to gain their momentum.

Unexpectedly, the tables turned and Gonzaga was the team struggling to make shots while Pride sank theirs, playing solid defense and fighting for steals. Battling back and forth, Standish and Malone both made two sets of back-to-back shots from the paint, bringing the score to 80-59.

A few shots from the key by Hofstra's Shante Evans and an uncontested three by her teammate Katelan Loper closed the gap 15 with two minutes to go. Hofstra sank a few more shots as the end neared, but not enough to catch the Zags
