Ex-Gonzaga men's basketball forward Johnathan Williams has signed a contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, the team announced in a news release on Saturday. The 6-foot-9 big man spent three seasons (one redshirt campaign) with the Zags and made two All-West Coast Conference teams during his time in Spokane.
After going unselected in last month's draft, Williams inked a partially guaranteed contract with the Lakers for Summer League. In seven games with the club, he averaged 4.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and a team-high 0.7 blocks, playing 24.6 minutes a night.
The specifics of the deal have not been revealed but Williams will be one of 20 players headed to training camp before the roster is whittled down to 15.
