Amy Edwards

Edwards was 55-86-13 as head coach of the GU women's soccer team.

Gonzaga will not renew the contract of women’s soccer head coach Amy Edwards, the school announced Wednesday. Shannon Strahl, GU’s senior associate director of athletics, will lead the search for her successor.

Edwards was 55-86-13 in eight seasons with the Bulldogs, and struggled with an 8-22-7 record in her final two seasons with the Zags. GU finished 2-7-0 in West Coast Conference play this season and nine of 10 schools in the conference standings.

Her best season came in 2014, when the Bulldogs finished 9-9-1 overall and 4-4-1 in conference play, good for a fifth-place WCC finish. Edwards’ 55 wins are second in program history.

Edwards coached one first-team All-WCC player (Heather Johnson, 2014) and five second-team All-WCC players during her tenure.

"We have great respect for Coach Edwards and want to thank her for leading our women's soccer program for the last eight seasons," Gonzaga Athletic Director Mike Roth said in a press release. "She has made great contributions to our University and our program, and we wish her the best."
