Behind four singles play wins, Gonzaga (10-5, 1-1 West Coast Conference) defeated 31st-ranked BYU (14-3, 3-1) on Friday. After dropping the doubles point, Kyle Everley, Vincent Rettke, Emilio Moreno and Hunter Egger grabbed victories during singles action, as GU knocked off the Cougars 4-2.
The win over BYU was the Bulldogs' second in nine chances.
"It was a great win today for our guys," head coach Jonas Piibor said in a statement. "It is definitely something to hang our hat on as we continue the process."
Everley knotted the match at one with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Mateo Vereau and Egger gave GU the lead when he defeated Matthew Pearce 6-2, 7-6 (7-4). After BYU's Sean Hill toppled Sam Feit 6-3, 6-1 to tie the match at 2, Rettke and Moreno rattled off wins to secure the victory.
GU will travel to San Francisco (3-6, 0-0) for a match with the Dons on March 29 at 11 a.m.
